Gradual

Gradual / Privacy

Your body is not a product.

Health data is about as personal as data gets. Here is, in plain words, how Gradual handles it.

Where your data goes

Four steps, and the last one is yours.

1. Apple Watch and iPhonerecord your workouts, sleep and vitals as they always do
2. Apple Healthholds it on your phone, with your food app's entries
3. Gradual for iPhoneasks for each kind of data separately and reads only what you allow
4. Your serverkeeps a database you control and serves your web app

On a server you control

Gradual stores your data on a server you run, not in a company's cloud. There is no Gradual account to hand your data to. Delete the database and the data is gone.

You choose what it reads

The iPhone app asks for each kind of Health data separately. You can change or take back any of them in iOS Settings at any time. It only reads: it never writes to Apple Health.

No tracking, no ads

No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts. This website loads its fonts from itself and makes no requests to anyone else, and you can check that in your browser's network panel.

Honest about what it is

Gradual shows information about your own numbers. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose anything, and is not medical advice. Talk to a clinician about your health.

What Gradual does not do

  • Sell, share or rent your data
  • Show ads or use advertising IDs
  • Run analytics or load scripts from other sites
  • Write to Apple Health
  • Diagnose, treat or give medical advice

What it does

  • Read the Health data types you allow, on your phone
  • Send them to the server you set up, over HTTPS
  • Keep the numbers on that server, in a database you own
  • Compare your numbers with your own history
  • Work in light and dark, on web and iPhone

Small steps, clearly seen.
